Of course all of use remember this guy. He is Patrick Swayze, the one who starred in a hit film entitled Dirty Dancing. Who would ever expect a guy as young and active as he is would be diagnosed with such disease as Pancreatic Cancer.

I visited Google trends this morning and found out that this is what's people are searching for so, I made my nursing education into use and share what I know about this disease.

People would ask, what is the survival rate of people with pancreatic disease. Well, it depends on the severity actually. There are 4 major types of cancer of the pancreas but I can only remember squamous cell cancer, adenocarcinoma and carcinosarcoma. There were no official medical release as of this writing about the actual type of cancer of the pancreas of Patric Swayze so i have to find out more about it and let you know when it comes.

Whats the pancreatic cancer survival rate? Well, again, it depends, with someone as wealthy as Patrick Swayze, treatments such as radiation therapy and chemotherapy would be very much accessible so i should say 75%-85% survival rate. Take note, im a nurse not a doctor so this is not that much accurate but you get the rough estimate.

Meanwhile, this is the press release by his folks:

“Actor Patrick Swayze has been diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer and is currently undergoing treatment. Patrick’s physician Dr. George Fisher states, ‘Patrick has a very limited amount of disease and he appears to be responding well to treatment thus far. All of the reports stating the timeframe of his prognosis and his physical side effects are absolutely untrue. We are considerably more optimistic.’ Patrick is continuing his normal schedule during this time, which includes working on upcoming projects. The outpouring of support and concern he has already received from the public is deeply appreciated by Patrick and his family.”

Ill keep you posted about this one guys, do come back often. ;)
